Team Perka begins expansion for Lawson Baptist Church in Lawson, Missouri with a focus on local partnerships.

St. Joseph, MO – October 17, 2022 – With the ink barely dried on the new contracts and agreements, Veritas Systems Construction, a Team Perka Company, is taking the lead as General Contractor in bringing the church’s, “Every Person, Every Effort” campaign to life.

On January 4, 2021, Lawson Baptist Church launched a capital campaign to raise funding to meet the growing demands of the church and it’s ministries serving the people of Lawson. After going through the due diligence on choosing a general contracting partner, the team at Lawson Baptist chose to partner up and work on customizing the best building solution for them with Team Perka.

Throughout the initial discussions, drawing, and quoting stages; special care was taken to be good stewards of each penny spent, leaning heavily into the local economies to make the church expansion happen.  Team Perka will be utilizing their Perka Hybrid Building frames that they have been manufacturing for three generations. The strength of those steel frames will be combined with the flexibility of wood sourced from 3rdgeneration, family owned, Lawson, MO local lumber yard, Morrow & Sons Lumber.

Most of the materials and labor are from NW Missouri companies from St. Joseph, Excelsior Springs, Liberty, Kearney, Kansas City and of course Lawson; with a few items from cities across the river, Cummings and Overland Park, Kansas.

Safety fencing, dumpsters and other items started to appear on site Monday, October 10th, with first steps of construction beginning in the days after.

“It is exciting to be at this step finally, we have been planning and going over every detail for months, to be ready to start to see the church expansion happen.” – Nick Hulet, Site Supervisor

Team Perka has grown, evolved and transformed to the full solution provider for buildings they are today under the second-generation leadership of Martial Thevenot, and now the third generation of Guy and Michele “Sponge” Thevenot.
